Fun Finds

8/27/07

Some of the recent caches that we've found: One in Long Beach area where a "homeless helper" pointed out the cache. (We had read about him in one of the finder's logs.) He actually showed us where it was. Don't know if we would have found it. Gave him a couple of bucks for "maintaining the cache." He probably does okay in that location, with all the geocachers in the area.

We recently cached in the closed El Toro Marine Base in Irvine. Very interesting place--virtually no one around on a Sunday. Lots of building is going to take place soon, so if you want to see it, try to go soon. There are several caches there. The funniest one says--Don't pull the chain." So of course, Mr. Oldtechie did, and the results were a nice cool shower. So if you're there on a hot day, look for this one. Interesting seeing all the hangars, barracks, runways, etc. that will soon be gone.

In the same area, is a giant orange balloon, publicizing the coming of the "Great Park." Rides are free--it's tethered and goes up 500 ft. Great view of the surrounding area. Fun for kids too.

Nearby are several caches by j czerwin. Very unique and clever. The most unusual cache we've ever found is one of his. It involves noise. It's a multi. Be sure to look for it. He has more caches in the Long Beach area but we haven't looked for these yet.

More later....

My son setup this blog for us to highlight some of the coolest geocaches we've found. We look forward to documenting them here...
